"Full Throttle"
       by Composer Spencer Nance

“Full Throttle” is supposed to depict an airplane ride from beginning to end. The pilot will push the plane to “full throttle” on the runway and proceed to take off. That is exactly what the music is depicting in the opening 7/8 section. The juxtaposition of 6/8 and ¾ time signatures in the B section is supposed to mimic some slight turbulence on the incline. Once you get to measure 51 you are in the air at cruising altitude. This section offers your students the opportunity to play musically and really listen to each other for balance and blend. Measure 85 to the end is a recapitulation with some variations to give the listener an exciting ending to the piece.
